About Magazine Fort

Perched on a hillock in Phoenix Park's southwestern corner, bordering Stoneybatter, the Magazine Fort is a star-shaped 1736 military stronghold guarding Dublin's gunpowder stores. Built by the Duke of Wellington's forces, it saw action in 1916 Easter Rising when Constance Markievicz led its capture, and WWII raids.
